“I’m eight years old and in the third grade, but my birthday is coming up really soon on December 14th. I want to ask for a dog, a big fluffy one like my friend Jess has, but Dad said that’s not gonna happen for a while. I guess it’s because our house is smaller now, but I got the second biggest room. I want to paint the ceiling blue and put clouds on it.
Jordyn got the biggest room because she’s in high school. She and Tyler are both older than me. We usually hang out a lot. Jordyn promised to teach me how to shoot marbles, but she and Tyler have been spending a lot of time together lately. If they’re leaving me out of something cool… Well, they’d just better not be. I’ll find out whatever the secret is sooner or later.
They say I get spoiled because I’m the baby of the family, but let me tell you, it’s not always easy. I’m actually pretty busy. After school, I have tennis practice and violin lessons. Grandma and Grandpa think it’s really important for me to be able to keep doing all of that even though we live in the city now; that’s probably why they help pay so I can stay at my old school. And it’s really nice of them — and I’m glad I don’t have to say goodbye to my friends. So as long as they’re happy, and Dad’s happy, then I’m not worried, even though there’s a lot going on.”
